More often than not, working women are too busy to take care of their health. This increases the risks of heart disease.
Lack of awareness and misconceptions about women’s heart issues are the major reasons for delays in seeking medical care. Though women are more vulnerable to cardiovascular risks after menopause, heart diseases can affect them at any age. In fact, the leading cause of death among women is heart disease.
Family health history, everyday habits and general health are major factors that affect women’s heart-disease risks. Most of these factors are manageable with simple lifestyle modifications. Following prescribed treatment, being active, and eating healthy can genuinely help in managing risks.
Regular exercise and a healthy diet can help reduce risk factors by 80 per cent. Managing weight, blood pressure and blood lipid levels are also very important.
