Swapan Roy
Swapan Roy, a visual artist born and raised in Calcutta, has a deep connection to his rural upbringing. After completing his commerce studies in Calcutta, he pursued his passion for art by attending the Indian Art College under Rabindra Bharati University from 1986 to 1990. Since then, he has dedicated himself to his creative pursuits. In his artistic journey, Swapan Roy has exhibited a strong belief in choosing the path of harmony. Through his works, he aims to spread this message of harmony to the world. His first solo exhibition in Kolkata, held in July 2010, focused on the series of Krishna, showcasing his early exploration of themes and subjects. Throughout the years, Roy’s passion for the art world has continued to grow. One of the recurring protagonists in his works is Buddha. His artwork often depicts Buddha in various postures and expressions, surrounded by elements of meditation and historical architecture, with birds flying across the infinite sky. Through these compositions, he conveys his message of tolerance, peace, and mindfulness.
